In a thrilling contest, Briar Cliff (IA) staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Mount Marty 9-8.
Mount Marty took an early lead in the first inning with Kiko Nunez's impressive two-run homer, putting them ahead 2-0. However, Briar Cliff quickly responded in the bottom of the inning, capitalizing on an error to score a run before Cade Marquardt's double leveled the score at 2-2.
Mount Marty surged ahead again in the second inning, with Aidan Chang's RBI single and Ethan Wishon's two-run single helping them to a 5-2 lead. They extended their lead further with Nunez's RBI double and another run scored on a wild pitch, making it 7-2.
Briar Cliff mounted a spirited comeback in the fourth inning, ignited by Drew Petersen's three-run homer, cutting the deficit to 7-5. Mount Marty added a run in the sixth with Chang's solo homer, but Briar Cliff kept fighting.
In the seventh inning, Cam Riemer and Jake Chronic each delivered RBI singles, tying the game at 8-8. Then, with the bases loaded, Easton Cone was hit by a pitch, bringing in the tying run.
Briar Cliff completed their stunning comeback in the eighth inning when Chronic's RBI single brought home Diego Trujillo, giving them a 9-8 lead they would hold onto for the win.
Kyler Steinborn started on the mound for Briar Cliff, enduring a tough outing, allowing seven runs in four innings. Owen Lester came in relief and held Mount Marty to just one run over the next four innings, earning the win.

In a matchup against Mount Marty, Briar Cliff (IA) emerged victorious with a dominant 6-1 win.
Briar Cliff wasted no time getting on the board, with Walker Moore crossing the plate in the first inning off Diego Trujillo's sacrifice, giving them an early 1-0 lead. They extended their lead in the second inning when Damon Schmid blasted a two-run homer, bringing in Easton Cone, making it 3-0 in favor of Briar Cliff.
Mount Marty managed to get on the scoreboard in the fourth inning, capitalizing on an error to allow Shugo Kondo to score, narrowing the gap to 3-1. However, Briar Cliff responded emphatically in the bottom of the fourth, as Drew Petersen smashed a two-run homer, increasing their lead to 5-1.
Briar Cliff continued to dominate in the fifth inning when Jake Chronic's double brought in Cam Riemer, extending their lead to 6-1.

The Lancers will host DWU on Thursday starting at 1 PM for their final home games of the season. MMU will then be on the road on Friday for its final DH of the regualr season when they take on Concordia with first pitch at noon.
