Mount Marty Battles Concordia to Scoreless Draw
SEWARD, Neb. – The Mount Marty women's soccer team turned in a gritty defensive performance on Wednesday night, earning a 0-0 draw against Concordia at Bulldog Stadium. The result pushes the Lancers to 5-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in GPAC play, while Concordia remains unbeaten at 7-0-4.
Goalkeeper Brooklyn McNac anchored the defense with a season-high 10 saves to record the shutout. The Lancers' backline absorbed consistent pressure, as Concordia outshot Mount Marty 20-4, including 10 on frame.
On the offensive end, Mount Marty made the most of its chances with four shots on goal. Mika Moriera and Liz Stordahl each tested the Bulldogs' keeper, while Rhyli Grim and Stordahl combined to generate pressure in the second half. Grim also recorded the Lancers' best chance in the 57th minute but was denied on a shot from close range.
Both teams were even in set pieces, with each side earning four corner kicks. The physical match also saw four yellow cards, including one for Grim late in the contest.
The Lancers will look to build on the draw when they return to action to face Northwestern on Saturday, October 4th at 7:30 p.m. in Orange City, IA.Â
