Mount Marty Volleyball Battles but Falls in Four to Dordt
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The Mount Marty volleyball team put up a strong fight on the road but came up short against Dordt, falling 3-1 (12-25, 25-13, 28-30, 23-25) Friday night inside De Witt Gym.
After a slow start in set one, the Lancers regrouped with a dominant second set, hitting .250 as a team behind the offensive play of Gabby Miller (10 kills, 7 digs) and Caitlin Guenther (7 kills, 2 blocks). The third set turned into a marathon, with both teams trading points before Dordt edged out a narrow 30-28 win. Mount Marty kept the pressure on in set four, but the Defenders were able to close out the match.
Julia Weber directed the attack with 27 assists and 11 digs, while also adding 8 kills. Adisyn Indahl chipped in 7 kills and 11 digs, and Jaya Wachholtz recorded 8 kills and 6 digs. At the net, the Lancers tallied 30 block assists, led by Lexi Eickhoff (9) and Indahl (6).
The loss drops Mount Marty to 9-9 overall and 2-5 in GPAC play, while Dordt improves to 14-5 and 5-3 in conference.
