Lancers Fall to Broncos in GPAC Matchup

The Mount Marty University (MMU) women's basketball team faced a tough loss on the road, falling to Hastings College (HC) 82-61 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) contest on December 10, 2025.

The Broncos (9-3, 6-1 GPAC) utilized a strong start to build an early lead, while the Lancers (7-4, 3-4 GPAC) struggled to consistently find their rhythm from the field.


Game Summary

Hastings College took control from the tip, outscoring Mount Marty 21-13 in the first quarter and extending their lead with a dominant 26-18 second quarter, taking a commanding 47-31 lead into halftime. The Lancers fought to keep pace in the second half, but the Broncos maintained a comfortable margin, ultimately securing the 82-61 victory.

The biggest difference in the game was three-point shooting. Hastings was lights out, hitting 16-of-41 (39.0%) from beyond the arc, while Mount Marty was limited to just 4-of-24 (16.7%) from long distance. The Lancers struggled significantly from the field overall, shooting only 27.8% (15-54). However, MMU was excellent at the free-throw line, sinking 79.4% (27-34) of their attempts.


Top Performers for Mount Marty

Despite the difficult shooting night, several Lancers showed grit and capitalized on free throw opportunities:

  • Signe Bang was a bright spot off the bench, leading the team with 16 points on an efficient 4-of-5 shooting, including 3-of-3 from three-point range, and a perfect 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. She also led the team with 7 rebounds.

  • Alexus Motley contributed 11 points and tied for the team high with 9 rebounds (4 offensive).

  • Leah Williams and Lacey Sprakel each added 9 points. Sprakel was perfect from the line, hitting all 6 of her free throws.
