SIoux Center, IA – McKenzie Gray delivered a stellar performance in the circle, leading Mount Marty to a 4-1 win over York (NE) on Monday afternoon. The Lancers jumped out early and relied on Gray's dominance to secure the victory, improving to 4-5 on the season.
Early Offense Sets the Tone
Mount Marty wasted no time, striking for three runs in the first inning. Janeah Castro got the Lancers on the board with a two-run double, scoring Kayleen Jacinto and Alyssa Sosky. Olivia Valdez followed up with an RBI single to bring Castro home, giving Mount Marty a quick 3-0 lead.
In the third, the Lancers added one more when Valdez lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Ella Ray to extend the lead to 4-0.
Gray Silences York's Offense
McKenzie Gray (3-1) was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just four hits and one unearned run. She struck out nine batters and worked around five walks, keeping York's hitters off balance all game. With the win Mackenzie Gray breaks Mount Marty career wins as a Lancer with 28 now. She has 52 career victories as a pitcher. To go with the wins Mackenzie now has over 371 career strikeouts.Â
York's only run came in the third when Moriah Hoshowski's sacrifice fly brought home Katie Taylor, but Gray quickly shut down any further threats.

SIoux Center, IA – Kayleen Jacinto's early two-run homer and a complete-game effort from Makayla Graunkepropelled Mount Marty to a 3-1 victory over Dakota State on Tuesday afternoon. The Lancers improved to 5-5 on the season with the win.
Jacinto's Power Sparks Early Lead
Mount Marty struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Kayleen Jacinto launched a two-run home run, scoring Alyssa Sosky to put the Lancers up 2-0.
The Lancers added an insurance run in the fifth when Brooklyn Townsend drove in Jacinto with a sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 3-0.
Graunke Goes the Distance
Makayla Graunke (1-2) was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete game while allowing just one run on five hits. She struck out four and didn't issue a single walk, keeping Dakota State's offense in check.
The Trojans' only run came in the sixth when Michelle Evdos delivered an RBI single, but Graunke shut the door the rest of the way to seal the win.
