Mount Marty Falls to Kansas Wesleyan in 4-0 Shutout

The Mount Marty softball team struggled to find offensive momentum in a 4-0 loss to Kansas Wesleyan on Friday. Despite outhitting the Coyotes 7-4, the Lancers were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving nine runners on base.

How It Happened:

After a scoreless first inning, the Coyotes struck first in the bottom of the second when Briannah Kutschkau scored on a throwing error by the Lancers' catcher, giving Kansas Wesleyan a 1-0 lead.

The game remained tight until the fourth, when the Coyotes tacked on three more runs. Jenna Soule advanced to second on a passed ball as Josie Buhr came home to score. Deja Rubio then laid down a sacrifice bunt to bring in Soule, making it 3-0. Elli Han capped off the inning with an RBI single to right, scoring Cristabelle Alvarado to push the lead to 4-0.

Mount Marty had opportunities throughout the game but couldn't break through against Collier. Kayleen Jacinto led the Lancers with a 2-for-4 performance, including a double, while Jayden Simpkins and Ella Ray also collected extra-base hits.

Kansas Wesleyan played clean defense with no errors, while Mount Marty's lone miscue proved costly in the second inning.
