YANKTON, SD – A four-run seventh inning from Dordt proved too much for Mount Marty to overcome, as the Lancers fell 7-4 in a tightly contested matchup. Despite taking the lead in the fifth, Mount Marty couldn't hold off Dordt's late surge.
Lancers Strike First
Mount Marty opened the scoring in the first when Janeah Castro drove in Abby Johnson with a single. However, Dordt quickly responded in the second, capitalizing on an error and a pair of singles to take a 2-1 lead.
In the third, Dordt extended its lead to 3-1 as Chloe Kreuz launched a solo home run to left field.
Mount Marty Battles Back in the Fifth
The Lancers mounted their comeback in the fifth, taking advantage of Dordt's defensive struggles. An error allowed Emma Bloome to score, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Moments later, another defensive miscue allowed Abby Johnson to cross home, tying the game. Kayleen Jacinto then reached on an error, scoring Ella Ray to give Mount Marty a 4-3 lead.
Dordt's Seventh-Inning Surge
Mount Marty carried its lead into the seventh, but Dordt's offense came alive in the final frame. A sacrifice fly by Kreuz tied the game, and Annabelle Hensley followed with an RBI single to put Dordt ahead 5-4. Ashtyn Grissom then delivered the knockout blow, a two-run homer to left, sealing the 7-4 victory.

Mount Marty Earns 10-7 Victory Over Dordt with Offensive Surge
YANKTON, SD – The Mount Marty Lancers used a big fifth inning to power past Dordt, securing a 10-7 victory in the second game of their doubleheader. After surrendering a lead in the fourth, the Lancers responded with five runs in the fifth to claim the win.
Lancers Take Early Control
Mount Marty struck first in the second inning when Olivia Valdez delivered an RBI single, followed by a two-run homer from Abby Johnson to make it 3-0. Dordt answered in the third with a solo home run by Brooke Rule to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Lancers extended their lead in the third on a Kaylee McNeese RBI single and an Ella Ray RBI hit, pushing their advantage to 5-1.
Dordt's Comeback Falls Short
Dordt responded in the fourth with a three-run blast by Lauren Steenstra to tie the game at 5-5. The Defenders briefly took the lead in the fifth after an RBI single from Annabelle Hensley.
However, Mount Marty quickly reclaimed control in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Kayleen Jacinto and RBI hits from Regan Garry, Alyssa Sosky, and McNeese to break the game open at 10-5.
Dordt managed two more runs in the sixth, but reliever Makayla Graunke shut down their offense to secure the win.
