Lancer Football Closes Spring Ball with Annual Intrasquad Scrimmage

Yankton, S.D. — The Mount Marty University Lancer Football team wrapped up it's spring practice schedule with a high-energy intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Crane-Youngworth Field. The annual scrimmage, which marks the culmination of the Lancers' spring football period, showcased the team's growth, competitive spirit, and the exciting potential heading into the fall season.

Despite rainy conditions that persisted throughout much of the afternoon, a dedicated crowd of fans braved the weather to support the team. Their commitment was rewarded with a tightly contested and physical matchup that remained competitive all the way to the final whistle.

Head Coach John Michaletti praised the team's effort and focus throughout the spring season.
"We've made significant progress over the past few weeks, and today's scrimmage was a great way to cap off that work," said Coach Michaletti. "The guys came out with great energy and competed the right way. No distractions with the weather. True definition of 'Full Benefit'. This gives us a strong foundation to build on going into the summer."

The scrimmage featured a number of standout performances on both sides of the ball. Josh Stahl (QB) made several key plays on offense, while the defensive unit, led by Daniel Pierce (DB), forced a few turnovers and displayed grittiness in some key stops.

Perhaps just as important as the on-field progress, the Lancers emerged from spring ball healthy — a key factor heading into offseason training. The staff was pleased with the team's discipline and focus on recovery and preparation throughout the spring period.

With spring practices now complete, the Lancers turn their focus to summer training and preparation for the upcoming 2025 fall season. The progress shown this spring has the program optimistic and determined as it continues to build toward new milestones.
