Lancers Open Oskaloosa Invite with Two Wins, Improve to 5-1

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mount Marty volleyball team continued its strong start to the 2025 season with a pair of four-set victories Friday evening, defeating Clarke (3–1) and Southwestern (3–1) at the Penn Activity Center. The two wins push the Lancers to 5-1 overall, setting up a quick turnaround with matches against Graceland and William Penn Saturday morning.

Match One: Mount Marty 3, Clarke 1 (20–25, 29–27, 25–15, 26–24)

After dropping a tight first set, Mount Marty stormed back to outlast Clarke in four. The offense was balanced across the board, with Caitlin Guenther leading the charge with 15 kills (.289) and six blocks, finishing with a match-high 18.0 points.

Setter Julia Weber directed the attack, recording 23 assists, 9 kills, and 13.5 points, while Mia Furst added 7 kills and four blocks to keep the middle steady. Freshman Lexi Eickhoff made an immediate impact off the bench with 7 kills (.333) and 3 block assists.

Defensively, Adisyn Indahl anchored the back row with a team-high 19 digs, adding 5 kills and an ace. Kate Tollinger chipped in 17 digs and an ace, while libero Jenna Schweitzer posted 8 digs with perfect serve receive. Collectively, Mount Marty tallied 51 kills, 72 digs, and 21 total team blocks/assists to secure the hard-fought win.

Match Two: Mount Marty 3, Southwestern 1 (23–25, 25–16, 25–16, 25–13)

The nightcap saw the Lancers drop the opening set before dominating the next three, hitting .324 as a team.

Weber once again ran the offense efficiently, dishing out 18 assists with 11 kills (.400) for another double-double performance. Guenther backed her with 13 kills (.320) and 15.5 points, while Gabby Miller provided steady production at the net with 5 kills, 3 aces, and 5 blocks (11.0 points).

Eickhoff continued her strong weekend with 6 kills on .417 hitting, and Furst chipped in 6 kills and 2 blocksJaya Wachholtz and Ralynn Hickman supplied sparks off the bench, combining for 5 kills on just 8 swings.

Defensively, Indahl was again a difference maker, leading with 13 digs and 4 aces to apply pressure at the service line. Schweitzer added 8 digs, while Tolling and Even combined for 14 assists and 14 digs in the backcourt. The Lancers held Southwestern to just a .127 hitting percentage, forcing 27 errors.

Mount Marty (5-1) returns to action Saturday with a morning doubleheader against Graceland (9 AM) and host William Penn (11 AM) to close out the Oskaloosa Invite.
