Mount Marty Volleyball Falls in Four Sets at Doane

CRETE, Neb. — Mount Marty volleyball battled throughout but came up short on the road Saturday, falling 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 18-25, 20-25) to Doane University in GPAC play. The loss drops the Lancers to 6-6 overall and 0-3 in the GPAC.

The match was tight from the start, with Doane edging the Lancers 25-23 in the opening set. Mount Marty bounced back in the second, hitting .103 and securing a 25-23 win to even the match at 1-1. The Tigers regained control in the third, and despite a late push in the fourth, the Lancers were unable to extend the match to five sets.

Jaya Wachholtz powered the attack with a team-high 13 kills, while Caitlin Guenther and Gabby Miller added 10 and 6 kills, respectively. Lexi Eickhoff provided an efficient performance, hitting .273 with four kills, while Adisyn Indahland Mia Furst chipped in offensively as well.

Setter Julia Weber ran the offense with 33 assists and added four service aces and 17 digs, finishing with a team-high 10.5 points. On the defensive side, Indahl led the team with 13 digs, and Weber, Guenther, and the front line combined for 12 block assists.

Despite the loss, Mount Marty finished with 42 kills, 71 digs, and 12 block assists, keeping them in striking distance throughout the match.

The Lancers return home Wednesday, September 17, when they host Hastings College at Cimpl Arena. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m. JV will start at 6 PM
