Lancers Fall to Bellevue on the Road, 4-2

Bellevue, Neb. – The Mount Marty women's soccer team battled against Bellevue University falling 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Bellevue struck early with a goal in the fifth minute, but the Lancers answered back less than a minute later when Alexia Valdez finished off a cross from Avery Kimball to level the match at 1-1. The Bruins regained the lead in the 28th minute and carried a 2-1 advantage into halftime.

In the second half, Bellevue's pressure continued as Baylee Tex and Maju Serrano added goals to push the Bruins' advantage to 4-1. Mount Marty, however, kept fighting until the final whistle. With less than a minute to play, Kamil Bennett netted her first collegiate goal on a creative back-heel finish inside the box, closing the gap to 4-2.

Offensively, Mount Marty tallied eight total shots with seven on frame, led by Valdez (3 shots, 2 on goal) and Bennett (1 goal, 1 shot on goal). Rhyli Grim and Kari Pate each put two shots on target to keep pressure on the Bruin defense.

Goalkeeper Brooklyn McNac was busy throughout the contest, recording a season-high 15 saves while facing 30 total shots from Bellevue.

The loss drops Mount Marty to 3-3 overall, while Bellevue improves to 6-1-1. The Lancers return to action next week as GPAC play begins when they travel to Mitchell to take on DWU on September 20th starting at 7:30 PM.
