Lancers Outlast Waldorf in Five-Set Thriller
YANKTON, S.D. – The Mount Marty volleyball team battled through a back-and-forth contest to defeat Waldorf 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at Cimpl Arena. With the victory, the Lancers improved to 9-8 overall and 2-4 in GPAC play, while Waldorf dropped to 8-6 (0-6 GPAC).
Waldorf took the opening set 25-21, but Mount Marty responded with a 25-22 win in the second. The Lancers carried the momentum into set three, hitting .152 as a team on their way to a 25-16 win. The Warriors forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-23 edge in the fourth. In the deciding frame, Mount Marty held off Waldorf in a nail-biter, 15-13, to seal the match.

With the win, Mount Marty continues to build momentum during conference play. The Lancers will return to action on Saturday, October 4th, when they travel to Mitchell, S.D. to face Dakota Wesleyan. First serve is set for 3:00 PM following the junior varsity match at 1:30 PM.
