Mount Marty Finishes Sixth at Blue River Classic

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Mount Marty men's golf team put together a consistent three-round performance to finish sixth out of 14 teams at the Blue River Classic, played September 2–3 at Highlands Golf Course.

The Lancers posted rounds of 296-301-298 for a 54-hole total of 895 (+31), securing a tie for sixth alongside Midland and just three strokes back of Dordt for fifth.

Round One

Mount Marty opened the tournament strong with a 296 (+8) in the opening round, paced by steady play throughout the lineup. The team positioned itself in the middle of the pack early, just a handful of strokes away from the top five.

Round Two

The Lancers followed with a 301 (+13) in round two, keeping themselves within striking distance as several teams made moves on the leaderboard. Guus Van Loon and Leo Garcia provided key scores that helped Mount Marty stay inside the top half of the field going into the final round.

Round Three

Mount Marty closed with a 298 (+10), its second sub-300 round of the event, to lock in the sixth-place finish. Guus Van Loon led the way with a 73 (+1) on day two, while Hunter Bailey (74, +2) and Leo Garcia (75, +3) added strong rounds to secure the Lancers' position.

Individual Highlights

  • Guus Van Loon – Round three 73 (+1), top Lancer finisher at T-22 overall

  • Wout Kerkhofs – 76 (+4) in the final round, tied for 25th

  • Hunter Bailey – 74 (+2) in round three, tied for 39th

  • Leo Garcia – 75 (+3) in round three, tied for 39th

  • Parker Riley – 80 (+8) in round three, tied for 54th

Southeast CC captured the team title with a three-round total of 852 (-12), while Iowa Western's Hayden Delaloye earned medalist honors after a 65 (-7) final round.

Mount Marty will return to action at the Siouxland Classic. September 8th will be hosted by Dordt in Sioux Center, IA. Day 2 on September 9th will be hosted by Northwestern College in Orange City, IA.
