Lancers Battle No. 2 Concordia in GPAC Home Opener
Yankton, S.D. – September 6, 2025
The Mount Marty volleyball team showed grit and fight in their GPAC home opener Saturday afternoon but fell in straight sets to No. 2-ranked Concordia University, 25–22, 25–13, 26–24, inside Cimpl Arena. With the loss, the Lancers move to 6–4 overall and 0–1 in GPAC play, while Concordia improves to 8–1 and 1–0 in the conference.
Match Summary
The Lancers nearly pulled off a set win in both the first and third frames, pushing the Bulldogs deep into extra points in the third. Mount Marty recorded 32 team kills but was limited to a .083 hitting percentage against the nationally-ranked Concordia defense.

Caitlin Guenther was the offensive standout, posting a team-high 13 kills on 23 swings for an efficient .391 hitting percentage, while also adding a solo block.

The Lancers will continue GPAC play next week on the road the next two games against Midland and Doane. The Lancers will return to Cimpl Arena on September 17th with JV starting at 6 PM and Varstiy starting around 7:30 PM.
