WEEKEND COMBINED RECAP: LANCERS SWEEP KANSAS ROAD TRIP

The Mount Marty University men's soccer program enjoyed a standout weekend in Kansas, claiming back-to-back road victories against Tabor College (1–0 on Sept. 11) and Hesston College (3–1 on Sept. 13) to improve to 3–2–1 overall.

Game 1 Highlights: Mount Marty 1, Tabor 0 (Sept. 11)

In a tight Friday night battle at Stryker Sports Complex in Hillsboro, Kansas, forward James Starkey netted the game's sole goal in the 19th minute off an unassisted effort. Goalkeeper Esteban Gomez recorded a 5-save clean sheet to preserve the shutout win despite Tabor outshooting MMU 17–15.

Game 2 Highlights: Mount Marty 3, Hesston 1 (Sept. 13)

Mount Marty showed resilience on Sunday afternoon, overcoming an early 5th-minute goal by Hesston's Saul Pineda. James Starkey sparked the comeback in the 19th minute with his second unassisted goal of the weekend, followed by strikes from Jamie Hope (43') and Rylan Eide (67') to seal the 3–1 result. Esteban Gomez earned his second win of the trip with another 5-save outing.

WEEKEND STATISTICAL LEADERS

• James Starkey: Led the attack across both matches, tallying 2 goals on 8 total shots (5 on goal).

• Esteban Gomez: Anchored the defense all weekend, stopping 10 of the 11 shots on goal he faced while logging 180 minutes between the posts.

• Balanced Playmaking: Midfielders James Hughes and Jack D'Amore each provided key assists in Sunday's second-half surge.
