Lancers go 0-2 on Day One

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Davenport, Iowa -- The Lancers traveled to Davenport, Iowa to compete in the St. Ambrose tournament this weekend. Mount Marty went 0-2 today, falling to St. Ambrose University and Mount Mercy University. The team moves to 4-2 on the season and will play two more games tomorrow.

MMU vs St. Ambrose, L 1-5
The Lancers fell to St. Ambrose with a 5-1 score. Mount Marty had one run, on two hits, and had two errors in the game. The St. Ambrose Bees had five runs, on nine hits, and zero errors.

McKenzie Gray (1-1) pitched the first four innings for the Lancers and takes the loss. Gray allowed one earned runs on four hits and had two strikeouts in the game. Madison Kovar threw the last three innings and had two earned runs on five hits. Neither pitcher allowed a walk in the game.

The Bees were the first to get on the board. Alyssa Schumacher made in on base in the top of third and stole her way around the diamond to get the first run of the game. St. Ambrose made it a 2-0 game in the fourth after a double to left field allowed Cassie Sprout to score. 

The Bees added two more runs in the sixth. Mount Marty was able to take one run back in the bottom of the fifth inning with Autumn Porter getting an RBI single to score Elisabeth McGill. 

The final run occurred in the top of the seventh inning to make the final score 5-1. 

MMU vs Mount Mercy, L 2-1 (extra innings)
Mount Marty fell to Mount Mercy in extra innings on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers scored 1 run on two hits and had one error. The Mustangs had two runs on three hits and had two errors in the game. 

Makayla Graunke (1-1) threw seven innings and takes the loss today. Graunke had nine strikeouts in the game and allowed one earned run on two hits. Madison Kovar threw 1/3 of an innings and gave up zero runs on one hit. 

It was a pitchers duel the first seven innings, with it being a scoreless game until the eighth inning. 
Mount Marty scored first, with Sami Noble reaching home on a throwing error from the catcher. Mount Mercy was able to respond and tie up the game ground-rule double, which allowed a run to get home. The Mustangs won on a single to left field.

 The Lancers will play two more games tomorrow in Davenport, Iowa. They will face St. Ambrose again at 11:00 AM, and then take on Aquinas College at 1:00 PM.
