Lancers Fall to Saint Ambrose and Aquinas

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Davenport, Iowa -- Mount Marty lost both games on Day 2 of the Saint Ambrose softball tournament in Davenport, IA. The Lancers had a rematch against Saint Ambrose to start off the day and then faced Aquinas to finish off their trip. MMU lost to both teams, moving to 4-4 on the season.

The Lancers were able to get one run on nine hits and one error, while the Bees had two runs on two hits and had zero errors.

Hannah Keith (0-1) pitched the entire game and takes the loss. Keith had four strikeouts and gave up two earned runs on two hits. Two batters were walked in the game. 

The game was tied 0-0 until the seventh inning. The Bees scored two runs in the top of the seventh, one run came in on a triple to right field. Their second run came from a groundout to second base. 

The Lancers were able to take one run back in the bottom of the seventh after Sami Noble had a sacrifice fly to center field to score Olivia Valdez. Lilinoe Nihi, Ella Ray, and Valdez each had two hits in the game to lead the team. Noble had the lone RBI. 

MMU vs Aquinas, L 4-0
Mount Marty was shut out for the first time this season, getting zero runs on two hits with one error. The Saints had four runs on 10 hits and had zero errors in the game. 

Makayla Graunke (1-2) started in the circle and pitched two and two-thirds of an inning. Graunke allowed one run on four hits and had three strikeouts in the game. Madison Kovar threw one and one-third of an innings, getting two strikeouts and allowing zero runs on one hit. McKenzie Gray finished out the game for the Lancers, throwing two innings. Gray had three strikeouts and gave up two earned runs on five hits. 

Aquinas first got on the board in the third inning with a single to left field. They added one more run to make it 2-0 in the fifth. The score moved to 4-0 in the sixth due to a ground rule double. 

Sami Noble had the only Lancer hit in the game. 

Up Next 
The Lancers play again this coming weekend in Wichita, KS. On Friday, March 3rd, they play York University at noon, and then face Avila University at 4:00 PM. On Saturday, the team takes on MidAmerica Nazarene at 2:00 PM, and then finishes out the weekend against Kansas Christian at 4:00 PM.
