San Antonio, TX – One Mount Marty Marksmen is heading to Texas to compete in Nationals for Shotgun Sports this week.
Annika Johnson is registered to compete in four events those being American trap shooting, sporting clay, American skeet, and super sporting shooting.
Johnson, A senior from Hugo, Minnesota said " Within Two days I will be shooting over 400 targets."
In American Trap Shooting each participant is given 25 targets to fire at with one shot allowed per attempt from 25 yards away.
Sporting Clay shooting is a variation in which a competitor is placed at various stations throughout a course, often in natural terrain. Clay pigeons are fired at various angles and speeds making the targets unpredictable, as to simulate live quarry in the wild.
American Skeet shooting is an event in which there are eight stations arranged in a semi-circle. Competitors take turns firing at targets at each station, the competitor must break the target before it hits the ground.
SuperSport Shooting is a newer addition to world of Clay Shooting. The difference between this event and the others listed above is the level of difficulty. This Variation offers a greater target variation for competitors. Targets are often thrown faster, over longer distances, and often present unpredictable flight patterns.
