Lancers Sweep Mount Mercy As The Teichroew Era Begins

The snow tried to keep Mount Marty from beginning the 2023 baseball season, but the Lancers were able to schedule the games at Omaha Westside High School on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers began the Josh Teichroew era. The Lancers were able to sweep Mount Mercy on the day. Game one the Lancers won 7-1 and game two the Lancers won 4-0. Clayton Chipchase and Noah McCandless combined to throw a no-hitter in game two. 

Game One 

Mount Marty had no trouble on offense in game one, winning big over Mount Mercy University 7-1

Jett Hasegawa earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Mount Marty. The pitcher surrendered no runs on two hits over six innings, striking out ten and walking zero. Jared Miller pitched the last inning for Mount Marty striking out two batters. 

Mount Marty socked two home runs on the day. Will Gardner went for the long ball in the seventh inning. Kiko Nunez put one out in the fourth inning.

Mount Marty tallied seven hits on the day.  Gardner and Ethan Wishon each managed multiple hits for the Lancers.  Wishon and Gardner all had two hits to lead. Kiko Nunez had three RBIs in game one. 

Game Two

Mount Marty's two pitchers didn't allow a single hit, as the Lancers defeated Mount Mercy University 4-0 on Saturday.

Noah McCandless was credited with the victory for Mount Marty . The righty lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking zero.

Clayton Chipchase started the game for the Lancers the pitcher lasted six innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out eight

Bodi Wallar went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mount Marty in hits.  The Lancers didn't commit a single error in the field. Billy Hancock had  13 chances in the field, the most on the team.

Up Next

The Lancers will play Mount Mercy again on Sunday afternoon starting at Noon. Mount Marty will be the home team in the double header.
