The Mount Marty softball team will be traveling to Orange City, Iowa Wednesday morning to compete in Northwestern's tournament pod. The Lancers are coming in as the #8 seed, with the other teams in the pod being #1 Northwestern College, #4 Dordt University, and #5 Briar Cliff University. Mount Marty's first game of the double elimination tournament takes place at noon against #1 Northwestern. If the Lancers win, they will play again around four -- or after the Dordt vs Briar Cliff game is over -- and if they fall to the Red Raiders, they will play around 6:00 PM.  If MMU wins one game on Wednesday, they will be back in action on Thursday.

Mount Marty is currently 17-20 on the season and 10-12 in GPAC play. The Lancers split with Doane University on Saturday to make the GPAC tournament for the third year in a row. The team is led by Head Coach Kayla Bryant, Assistant Coach Ramon Romero, and Graduate Assistant Shelby Davis. This marks Coach Bryant's second year as head coach, with her leading the team to a 49-36 (25-19 GPAC) record over the course of two seasons.

Over the 2023 season, this team has collected 160 runs on 277 hits. Of the hits, 48 have been doubles, 8 have been triples, and 14 have been home runs. The team has stolen 47 bases, and reached first base by a walk 92 teams. The pitching staff has collected 205 strikeouts this season.

MMU vs NWC 
The Lancers played against Northwestern mid last week on Tuesday, April 25th at home. The Red Raiders swept the Lancers to get the regular season GPAC Tournament. Game 1 had a score of 6-2, while game two's score was 13-3. 

MMU vs Dordt
Mount Marty played Dordt University at Dordt in the beginning of the month of April. Dordt swept the Lancers to break their 6-game losing streak to MMU. The first game was a score of 5-1. The second game went into extra innings, with DU winning 2-1. 

MMU vs BCU
Mount Marty started their GPAC play against Briar Cliff University at BCU. MMU dropped both games to them with the first game being 10-1, and the second game being 1-0. 

Last Year
Last GPAC tournament, the team made a run to win the tournament and get an automatic spot for the NAIA Opening Round. The Lancers were in NWC's pod again, and they beat CSM once and NWC twice to reach the championship. The championship is in the 'best of 3' format. MMU had to take on Midland in the championship, with the Lancers forcing and winning the third game to take first.
