The Lancer track and field teams competed at the Mount Marty Last Chance at the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse in Yankton, SD on February 7. At the meet which featured six other schools and numerous unattached athletes, the Lancers broke one school record, equaled two school records, hit one new 'B' standard, and claimed 10 event titles.
Senior Luke Rettedal broke his own shot put school record again with a throw of 56' 3.25" and won the event. Rettadal hit the 'A' standard again with his throw. Sophomore Mya Zohner equaled the pole vault school record with a vault of 11' 9.75", hit the 'B' standard, and won the event. Junior Alexis Even equaled the 60 school record she co-owns with a time of 7.84 and won the event.
The other event win on the men's side came from freshman Joseph Cross in the 3,000 (9:10.05). The other event wins on the women's side came from senior Ashinee George in the 60H (9.08), sophomore Sassy Rodriguez in the 200 (26.42), junior Josey Wahlstrom in the 600 (1:39.42), junior Paige Millikan in the long jump (16' 9.25") and triple Jump (34' 6.75"), and the women's 4x400 (4:02.18) featuring junior Zelie Sorensen, Even, George, and Wahlstrom.
The women's 4x400 relay also competed at the Wildcat Indoor Classic at the Wildcat Dome at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE on February 8, and hit the 'B' standard running 3:58.05. The quartet also won the event.
The Lancers had many additional top-eight finishes and have seven event squads nationally ranked in the top 20. They will compete next at the 2025 GPAC Indoor Championships at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex in Mitchell, SD on February 14-15. Action kicks off February 14, at 1 p.m.
