8 Wins and 27 Season Bests Pace Lancers at Polar Dog Invitational
The Lancers put together an impressive showing at the Polar Dog Invitational, earning eight event victories while posting 27 season-best performances across the meet.
Zelie Sorensen (O'Neill, NE) led the way on the women's side with a pair of individual wins, capturing first place in the 60 meters (7.86) and the 200 meters (26.01). Sorensen also led off the winning women's 4x400 meter relay, teaming with Alexis Even (Parker, SD), Whitney Wollberg (Arlington, NE), and Josey Wahlstrom (Custer, SD) to post a time of 4:06.08.
The Lancers also claimed the men's 4x400 meter relay, as Zavio Prato (Grimsby, Onario, Canada), Jet Janvrin (Rapid City, SD), Carl Mass (Hot Springs, SD), and Samuel Favaretto (Massanzago, Italy) combined for a winning time of 3:32.33.
Additional event victories included Joe Cross (Jefferson, SD) in the men's 5000 meters (15:15.75), Tague Tvedt (Clear Lake, SD) in the men's 1000 meters (2:35.66), and Paige Clausen (Sioux Falls, SD), who cleared 3.55 meters to win the women's pole vault. Zavio Prato added an individual title on the track with a victory in the men's 400 meters (50.03).
Along with the eight wins, the Lancers' 27 season-best marks reflected continued progress and depth across sprints, distance, relays, and field events as the season moves forward.
The Polar Dog Invitational served as an important benchmark as the Lancers prepare for upcoming competition, looking to build on the momentum generated by this strong performance.
Next weekend the Lancers return to Seward, Nebraska for the Concordia Classic.
