The Lancer track and field teams competed at the Drake Relays on April 23-26, and the Kip Janvrin Open on April 24-25. At the conclusion of the meets, the Lancers came away with numerous top-25 finishes.
At the Drake Relays, the men's sprint medley relay placed 10th (3:34.94) and featured freshman Austin Gobel, junior Carl Massa, sophomore Zavio Prato, and freshman Carson Conway. The men's 4x400 relay placed 16th (3:17.11) and featured Gobel, Massa, freshman Christopher Munoz-Sturgeon, and Prato. The women's 4x100 relay placed 22nd (48.85) and featured sophomores Alexus Motley and Sassy Rodriguez and juniors Alexis Even and Zelie Sorensen. The women's 4x400 relay placed 19th (4:00.49) and featured Sorensen, Even, senior Lexa Burtzlaff, and junior Josey Wahlstrom.
At the Kip Janvrin Open, freshman Osiel Cantu produced the top performance for the men with his 7th-place finish in the 400 hurdles (56.34). Sophomore Mya Zohner produced the top performance for the women with her 2nd-place finish in the pole vault (11' 6.75").
The Lancers have 4 event squads ranked nationally in the top 20. They will compete next at the GPAC Outdoor Championships in Hastings, NE on May 2-3.
