Mount Marty University to Discontinue Men's and Women's Tennis Programs

YANKTON, SD – Mount Marty University (MMU) has announced a strategic update regarding its intercollegiate athletic offerings. Following a thorough evaluation of the university's long-term strategic
priorities, the university has made the decision to discontinue its men's and women's tennis programs, effective at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 academic year.

As Mount Marty University continues to evolve, this change represents a proactive step to ensure the institution is meeting the needs of the student body while strengthening the overall health of the athletic department. This transition allows the university to focus its resources on providing a high-quality, sustainable experience for all Lancers as the campus looks toward future growth.

"Decisions involving the discontinuation of a program are made with great care and consideration," said Athletic Director Andy Bernatow. "Our primary focus remains the well-being of our student-athletes. We are incredibly proud of the dedication shown by our tennis players and are committed to supporting them fully as they navigate this transition."

All members of both tennis teams will continue to have their scholarships honored throughout their time as students at Mount Marty University. MMU is grateful for the contributions of all past and present tennis student-athletes who have represented the Lancers.
