Des Moines, Iowa -- Mount Marty sent a handful of athletes to compete in the Drake Relays over the weekend.
The women's 4x100 relay took seventh place with a time of 47.89. The relay team made it to the finals after grabbing an automatic qualifiication for winning their heat. This is the third time this relay team has run the event in 48 seconds this week. The foursome consisted of
Isabelle Hardmeyer,
Zelie Sorensen,
Alexis Even, and
Elianna Clark.
The 4x400 relay team missed finals, but took 10th place with a time of 3:56.61.
Calli Davis, Clark, Even, and
Abrielle Nelson ran this event.
Gracie Rippen tied for 13th place in the pole vault after clearing a height of 11-00.75 (3.37m).
The men's 4x100 relay just barely missed the finals, taking ninth place with a time of 41.56. The team consisted of
Deontae Howard,
Donovan Breckenridge,
Jonathan Fuselier, and
Nathan Simons.
The men's 4x400 relay team took 20th place after running it in 3:22.67. Nathaniel Kroupenske, Breckenridge,
Carl Massa, and
Seth Wiebelhaus completed the race.
Marcus Jnofinn took 21st place in the 100 dash with a time of 10.80.
Nathan Simons claimed 17th place in the 400 after running it in 50.30.
Seth Wiebelhaus finished in 21st place after competing in the 110 hurdles. Wiebelhaus ran the race in 15.41.
The Mount Marty track and field teams will compete in the GPAC Track and Field Championships this weekend (May 5th and 6th) in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Top 24 athletes in each individual event will qualify to compete. The finalized list will be posted and shared later in the week, along with other information about this meet.
