Mount Marty Delivers Strong Showing at MMU Twilight Meet

YANKTON, S.D. (Apr. 22, 2026) — Mount Marty track & field turned in a series of impressive performances Wednesday evening at the Mount Marty Twilight, highlighted by a relay victory, multiple NAIA marks, and standout efforts across sprints, field events, and middle distance.

The Lancers' men's 4x100-meter relay team of Jet Janvrin, Zavio Prato, Samuel Favaretto, and Austin Gobel raced to a first-place finish in 42.01, leading a dominant showing in the short sprints. Favaretto (10.80), Prato (10.81), and Gobel (10.84) each posted top finishes in the 100 meters, while Gobel (21.67), Bastien Furstoss (21.71), and Prato (21.73) followed with NAIA-ranked performances in the 200 meters.

On the women's side, Zelie Sorensen led the way with a strong all-around meet. The senior clocked a school record 11.94 in the 100 meters and 24.99 in the 200 meters—both ranking among the top marks in the NAIA this season—while also adding a solid performance in the long jump (5.07m). Sorensen later anchored the women's 4x100 relay team to a season-best 47.94, joined by Alexis Even, Josey Wahlstrom, and Whitney Wollberg.

In the hurdles, Osiel Cantu delivered a standout double, placing second in the 400-meter hurdles (55.98) after running 15.06 in the 110-meter hurdles. Hannah Killinger added a top-15 finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.65.  Taylor Hinojosa (1:08.63) placed 7th in the 400 hurdles.

Field events were another bright spot for Mount Marty, highlighted by a winning performance from Mya Zohner in the women's pole vault. Zohner cleared 3.78 meters to secure the victory and remains in the top tier of NAIA competitors this season. Paige Clausen added a third-place finish in the same event.

The Lancers also saw strong efforts from their younger athletes. Kellan Odell placed third in the javelin with a throw of 55.78 meters.

Drake Nemetz (1:58.26) placed 4th in the 800 meters and Carson Conway (4:14.52) placed 5th in the 1500 meters to contribute solid finishes in the men's middle-distance events.

The outdoor season continues for the Lancers at the Drake Relays this weekend.
