Lancers Shine with Event Win, National Marks, and Strong All-Around Performances
The Lancers turned in an impressive showing this weekend, highlighted by a first-place finish, national qualifying marks, and numerous top-five performances across both track and field events.
Leading the way was freshman standout Kellan Odell, who captured the men's javelin title with a personal-best throw of 60.50m (198-6). His mark met the NAIA "B" standard and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, solidifying one of the top performances of the meet.
On the track, Austin Gobel led the men's sprint group with a pair of top-five finishes, placing 4th in the 100 meters (10.68) and 5th in the 200 meters (21.94). He was joined by a strong group of underclassmen, including Bastien Furstoss, who took 10th in the 200 meters (22.12), along with Jet Janvrin and Samuel Favaretto, who each placed in the top 15 across the 100 and 200 meters.
The women's sprints were equally strong, as senior Zelie Sorensen posted two top-five finishes, placing 4th in the 100 meters (12.16)and 5th in the 200 meters (25.20). Alexis Even added a pair of top-10 finishes, while Josey Wahlstrom and Whitney Wollbergcontributed solid performances in both sprint events.
In the hurdles, Taylor Hinojosa and Hannah Killinger competed in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles, with Hinojosa leading the way in the long hurdles with a 6th-place finish (1:08.90).
The distance crew was led by Logan Ferrari, who turned in a standout performance with a 4th-place finish in the 1500 meters (4:07.73), while also placing 11th in the 800 meters. Joseph Cross recorded a personal best of 4:13.17 in the 1500 meters, finishing 7th overall. The Lancers also saw contributions from Drake Nemetz, Tague Tvedt, and Jude Shaughnessy across the middle-distance events.
In the field events, the Lancers excelled beyond the javelin runway. Mya Zohner claimed the women's pole vault title with a clearance of 3.68m (12-0.75), hitting the NAIA "B" standard. She was joined by Paige Clausen, who finished runner-up, and Whitney Wollberg, who placed third, giving the Lancers a strong sweep of the event.
Additional field highlights included Cooper Grotenhuis, who placed 2nd in the triple jump (13.31m), and Finn Graveley, who cleared 3.70m to finish 6th in the men's pole vault.
Overall, the Lancers combined depth, youth, and high-level performances to produce a well-rounded meet, highlighted by championship-level marks and continued progression across the roster.
