Nine event wins and one “B” standard at first home meet cap the regular season for the Lancers

The Lancer track and field teams competed at home for the first time this season at the Mount Marty Last Chance on Friday, February 9. At the conclusion of the meet, the Lancers came away with nine event wins, five on the women's team and four on the men's team, and one "B" standard on the men's team. The women also had 19 season bests on the day while the men had 11 season bests.

Leading the Lancer women was Alexis Even who won the 60 (7.87) and 200 (26.24). She led the Lancer women to a 1-2 finish in both events with Hilaria Rodriguez in the 60 (7.98) and Zelie Sorensen in the 200 (26.69) finishing behind her. The women also took 4 of the top 5 spots in the 60 and 4 of the top 7 spots in the 200. Other event wins came from Tianna Bumbaca-Kuehl in the 600 (1:39.21); the women's 4x400 relay featuring Cassie Hohrman, Taylor Hinojosa, Josey Wahlstrom, and Macala Hood (4:16.33); and Gracie Rippen in the pole vault (11' 0.75"). The women had multiple additional top-3 finishes with Maya Zohner in the pole vault (3rd - 10' 6.75"), Wahlstrom in the 800 (3rd - 2:24.43), and Jordyn Fischer in the 3,000 (3rd - 11:14.94).

The men's team was led by Marcus Jnofinn who won the 60 (6.85) and eclipsed the "B" standard. Other event wins came from Jacob Kueny in the 800 (2:02.25), Logan Ferrari in the 3,000 (9:12.65), and Luke Rettedal in the shot put (52' 9.5"). Kueny led a 1-2 finish in the 800 with Liam Vidas finishing just behind in 2:02.95. The men had multiple additional top-3 finishes with Ferrari in the mile (2nd - 4:32.96); Edwin Nyamutswa in the 60 (3rd - 6.94); Owen Koontz in the 1,000 (3rd - 2:38.85); and the 4x400 relay featuring Nathaniel Kropuenske, Koontz, Kueny, and Carl Massa (3rd - 3:31.58).

The Lancers' numerous season bests also resulted in numerous additional top-8 finishes. The Lancers are back at home hosting the GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships next Friday, February 16, and Saturday, February 17. At the end of the regular season, the men remain ranked in six events, and the women stay ranked in three events.
