Mount Marty Men's Golf Posts Strong Showing at Spring Invite

The Mount Marty University men's golf team delivered a competitive performance this week, finishing in a tie for third place at the Spring Invitational. The Lancers posted a two-round team score of +31, combining rounds of +17 and +14 to match Briar Cliff in the final standings. The performance reflected a consistent effort from the entire lineup in a strong eight-team field.

Leading the way for Mount Marty was Ted Bengston, who fired rounds of 71 (-1) and 72 (E) to finish third overall individually at -1 for the tournament, earning a podium finish in a highly competitive field. His performance accounted for 14.16 points toward the team total and anchored the Lancers' success.

Also contributing significantly were Lane Tvedt, who carded rounds of 77 and 74 to finish at +7 and in 13th place overall, and Hunter Bailey, whose rounds of 80 and 76 landed him at +14 and tied for 21st. Jimmie Cunninghamfollowed close behind with rounds of 84 and 76 to finish tied for 27th at +18. Wout Kerkhofs recorded a +5 in his only completed round, though he did not register a final score.

Mount Marty's team depth allowed them to outperform the B teams from Dickinson State and Dakota Wesleyan, as well as Mayville State, York (NE), and Valley City State. Dakota Wesleyan's A team captured the team title with a combined even-par performance, while Dickinson State secured second place at +24.

The Lancers' performance at the Spring Invite reflects a positive step forward as the team continues to build momentum this season.
