Mount Marty Men's Golf Wraps Up Spring With GPAC Championships
Beatrice, Neb. – The Mount Marty University men's golf team concluded play at the 2024-25 season today, facing off against a competitive conference field. The Lancers placed 10th overall with a team total of +98 (321-322-319), showing consistent improvement throughout the three rounds and highlighted by key individual performances.
Leading the way for Mount Marty was sophomore Wout Kerkhofs, who finished in a tie for 28th place individually. After a challenging start, Kerkhofs rebounded with rounds of +9, +6, and +3 to close out the tournament at +18.
Senior Ted Bengston also delivered a solid performance, finishing tied for 29th at +19 (Rounds of +10, +3, +6). Lane Tvedt finished tied for 40th at +28, while Hunter Bailey (+35) and Jimmie Cunningham (+41) rounded out the Lancer scoring.
Mount Marty's team total placed them behind top finisher Northwestern (IA), who ran away with the team title at -13, placing four golfers inside the individual top 5, including Axton Miller, who claimed medalist honors at -7. Hastings(+25) and Morningside (+28) rounded out the podium in second and third place respectively.

(Beatrice, Nebraska) – Northwestern shot a GPAC league record final round team score of 277 (-11) and a 54-hole team total of 851 (-13) to claim the 2025 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Golf Championship. The GPAC Men's Golf Championships were played at the Beatrice Country Club in Beatrice, Nebraska. The tournament was played Monday and Tuesday, April 21-22.
In the team competition, Hastings was second (889) and Morningside was third (892). Dakota Wesleyan was fourth and Midland fifth.
Axton Miller from Northwestern won the individual title with a final round score of 67 (-5). Miller shot -7 for the tournament (71-71-67 = 209). Gabe Escalera placed second going -5 for the tournament (71-71-69 = 211). Qwenton Caldwell and Jack Laven from Northwestern tied for third individually going even over 54 holes, each carding a 216.
The Northwestern men will represent the GPAC at the NAIA National Championships in Silvis, Illinois, May 20-23 at TPC Deere Run.Â
