Lancers Capture 8 Titles at the Mount Marty Opener
The Mount Marty Lancers kicked off their indoor season with a dominant performance at the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse, securing eight event titles and a long list of personal bests.
Women's Recap: Speed and Depth
The Lancer women dominated the sprints and vertical jumps, led by a powerhouse showing in the 200 meters.

Sprints: The women claimed a 1-2-5 finish in the 200m, with Zelie Sorensen taking the win (25.71) followed by Alexis Even in 2nd and Mia Woods in 5th with a new personal best. Sorensen and Even also excelled in the 60m, finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Pole Vault: In a display of depth, the Lancers went 2-3-4. Paige Clausen set a new personal best to lead the group, while Mya Zohner placed 2nd and Whitney Wohlberg took 4th.

Mid-Distance & Hurdles: Whitney Wohlberg had a standout day, also finishing as the runner-up in the 400m with a new personal best. Taylor Hinojosa placed 6th in the 60m Hurdles, and Josey Wahlstrom secured an 8th-place finish in the 800m.

Relays: The 4x400m relay team of Hannah Killinger, Taylor Hinojosa, Josey Wahlstrom, and Whitney Wohlberg battled to a runner-up finish.
Men's Recap: Podium Sweeps and Personal Bests
The men's team showed incredible strength in the middle distances and hurdles, sweeping the top spots in multiple events.

The 400m Sweep: The Lancers took the top four spots in the 400 meters, led by Zavio Prato (1st), followed by Bastien Furstoss (2nd), Jett Janvrin (3rd), and Carl Massa (4th).

Hurdles & Vault: Jonathan van Lien captured the 60m Hurdles title with a new personal best, while Osiel Cantufollowed in 3rd and Michael Beyer in 4th. Beyer and van Lien also excelled in the Pole Vault, finishing 3rd and 4th overall.

Mid-Distance & Distance: Samuel Favaretto and Tague Tvedt went 1-2 in the 600m. Drake Nemetz provided one of the most exciting moments of the meet with a come-from-behind win in the 1000m. Joe Cross rounded out the distance wins with a victory in the 3000m, finishing just off his personal best. Jude Shaughnessy added a 5th-place finish in the 800m with a new PR.

Jumps & Sprints: Cooper Grotenhuis and Kellan Odell went 1-2 in the Triple Jump. Odell also placed 4th in the Long Jump, while Grotenhuis took 6th. In the 60m dash, Austin Gobel took 3rd, while Zavio Prato (5th), Adonis Bryant (6th), and Jett Janvrin (8th) all placed in the 200m.

Relays: The men's 4x400m relay squad—Samuel Favaretto, Tague Tvedt, Osiel Cantu, and Drake Nemetz—took home the victory to cap off the day.

The Lancers will look to carry this momentum into next weekend as they host the Mount Marty Invitational & Multi'son Friday and Saturday, January 16-17, 2026.
