Lancers Post Multiple Season Bests at Wayne State Wildcat Indoor Classic

WAYNE, Neb. — The Mount Marty track and field teams continued to build momentum during the indoor season with several strong performances Friday at the Wayne State Wildcat Indoor Classic.

On the men's side, junior Zavio Prato led the way with a standout day on the track. Prato finished second in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 22.20, he also had a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters, clocking 48.88, a season best that ranks 27th in the NAIA this season.

Freshman Bastien Furstoss also impressed in the 400 meters, placing sixth overall with a personal-record time of 49.17, which currently ranks 39th in the NAIA. Sophomore Jet Janvrin added a personal best of 50.14 in the event.

In the sprints, the Lancers were led by freshman Jeffrey Musgrove (7.28) and freshman Adonis Bryant (7.30). Bryant also competed in the 200 meters, finishing in 23.21.

The men's hurdles group showed depth and consistency. Senior Michael Beyer posted a season-best 8.66 in prelims of the 60-meter hurdles, qualifying for finals alongside sophomore Jonathan Van Lien (8.72). In the finals, Van Lien placed seventh (8.79) with Beyer close behind in eighth (8.90). Freshman Kellan Odell recorded a personal-best 9.02 in the prelims.

In the field events, Odell also led the men in the jumps, placing eighth in the triple jump (12.09m) and 19th in the long jump (6.00m). Beyer added a 10th-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.95 meters.

On the women's side, freshman Lilly Whiteshirt delivered one of the top performances of the meet for the Lancers, earning a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a personal-record time of 20:04.58. Sophomore Hannah Killinger posted a personal best in the 400 meters, finishing in 1:01.93, and also competed in the 60-meter hurdles.

In the throws, sophomore Katelyn Reese highlighted the women's efforts with a 15th-place finish in the weight throw (13.37m) and a solid showing in the shot put (10.89m). Freshmen Kaitlyn Byerly and Jenilea Olivier added strong marks in both throwing events.

The Lancers will continue their indoor season next week as they look to build on Friday's performances and push toward conference and national qualifying marks.
