The Lancer track and field teams competed at the 2025 GPAC Indoor Championships at Dakota Wesleyan University at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex in Mitchell, SD on February 14-15. At the conclusion of the meet, the Lancers claimed one GPAC title, two school records, 14 All-GPAC honorees, and team scores of 4th for the women (62 points) and 6th for the men (37 points).
Senior Logan Ferrari claimed the conference title in the 5,000 with a time of 14:59.40. Ferrari also finished 3rd in the 3,000 (8:49.02).
Junior Alexis Even broke her own school records again in the 60 and 200. Even and junior Zelie Sorensen both broke the 60 school record in the prelims running 7.82. Even broke the record again in the finals running 7.78 to finish 4th. Sorensen finished just behind in 5th running 7.79. Even broke the 200 school record with a time of 25.47 to finish 2nd. Sorensen finished behind in 3rd running 25.63.
Even and Sorensen teamed up with junior Josey Wahlstrom and senior Ashinee George in the 4x400 (4:01.50) to finish 3rd. Wahlstrom also finished 3rd in the pentathlon (3,101 points) and 5th in the 600 (1:38.33). George also finished 5th in the 60H (9.09) and pentathlon (3,004 points).
The additional All-GPAC honorees on the women's team were sophomore Mya Zohner in the pole vault (11' 3.75" - 3rd), freshman Paige Clausen in the pole vault (11' 3.75" - 5th), and senior Cassie Hohrman in the 60H (9.54 - 7th).
Despite not earning All-GPAC honors, the women's 4x800 (10:35.47 - 6th) also scored points. The quartet featured sophomore Alexis Gosch, freshmen Isabella Ramsgard and Rachel Erk, and senior Lauren Mitchell.
The additional All-GPAC honorees on the men's team were freshman Austin Gobel in the 200 (22.50 - 4th) and 60 (7.04 - 7th), junior Carl Massa in the 400 (50.90 - 5th), junior Michael Beyer in the heptathlon (4,381 points - 7th), freshman Marc Jonathan Van Lien in the heptathlon (4,324 points - 8th), sophomore Cooper Grotenhuis in the triple jump (43' 7" - 8th), and freshman Joseph Cross in the 3,000 (8:59.43 - 8th).
Despite not earning All-GPAC honors, the men's 4x800 (8:06.22 - 5th) and 4x400 (3:30.95 - 8th) also scored points. The 4x800 featured junior Jacob Kueny, freshman Carson Conway, junior Tague Tvedt, and sophomore Owen Koontz. The 4x400 featured freshmen Christopher Munoz-Sturgeon and Osiel Cantu, Tvedt, and Massa.
For those who qualify, the indoor season will continue at the 2025 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center at Celebration Pointe in Gainesville, FL on February 27-March 1. The qualifiers will officially be announced this week.
