The Lancer track and field teams competed at the Doane Mid Week on April 8, the Sioux City Relays on April 11-12, and the USD Challenge on April 12. At the conclusion of the meets, the Lancers came away with one 'A' standard, one 'B' standard, eleven event titles, and one MVP award.
Senior Luke Rettedal hit the 'A' standard in the shot put at the Doane Mid Week with a throw of 55' 5.75" and won the event. Rettedal also won the shot put at the Sioux City Relays with a throw of 55' 2". Sophomore Mya Zohner hit the 'B' standard in the pole vault with a vault of 12' and finished 8th at the USD Challenge. Zohner won the pole vault at the Doane Mid Week with a vault of 11' 5.75".
Senior Lexa Burtzlaff was the women's MVP at the Sioux City Relays. Burtzlaff won three events (Long Jump - 16' 6.5", Triple Jump - 33' 3.5", and the 4x200 relay - 1:54.13) and had two additional top-three finishes. The other members of the 4x200 relay were senior Ariel Waller and juniors Andrea Sucha and Macala Hood.
The Lancers had many additional top-8 finishes and have one event squad ranked nationally in the top 20 (Women's Long Jump - 11th). They will compete next at the Northwestern Red Raider Open & Multi's on April 16-17.
