Mount Marty University

Smelker, a 2015 graduate, transferred to Mount Marty in the fall of 2012, and amazingly walked on to the cross country and track teams. She made her impact immediately as she was the second leading cross country runner on the team, and then really hit her stride in the spring when she broke the MMU record in the 10K by two minutes, and was named All-American. Smelker went on to break the Lancer cross country record and won the GPAC cross country meet, the first ever for a Lancer, and the first Lancer to win All-American honors at the NAIA meet. At graduation she was the holder of six school records and was named the 2014 Lancer Female Athlete of the Year.
